Guffy, my best friend
Guffy is Indie mix breed , I found him abandoned near my gate. I knew dogs would make my surrounding stinky, so I didn't give my much attention in the beginning. He was 2 months old puppy by that time.
I have a friend ,Shriya ,who visited me often. We both were working for different media , we were friends since many years (maybe a decade). Same evening when Guffy was abandoned she and I were on a discussion about famous politician Narayan who is very humble person to the civilians . Shriya said that she will be promoted soon and she said she would make a meet with her boyfriend in the next weekend. I giggled and said from when you have a boyfriend? She said I'll let you . Now lock the doors and get inside . I said to show his picture she denied. I said I'll be waiting and she moved.
While climbing back the stairs I could hear squealing sound and its was Guffy, I peeped and went back to my room. It started raining and I couldn't sleep because I live alone. So I thought of having a cup of coffee. So as I was enjoying my sip of coffee, I could see Guffy under a tree, his drenched tail made him pale. I was guilty and picked him up. And provided him warmth and milk. The next day was Sunday and I didn't feel like to put him back. I called him many a pet names but he used to turn back only for the name Guffy. So I named him Guffy.
But even after a couple of days I never felt like abandoning him. He was my best cuddle partner.
On Wednesday I got a call from my editor, within a 48hours if you do an cover investigation you will be promoted.
I very badly wanted a promotion because I've to repay for a place where was I brought up. By the way it's an orphanage. But I was adopted by a kind family when i was 7 years but they met with an accident 6 years ago. So the place where I'm living belongs to my adopted parents. The same night I took Guffy in a car for buying some of groceries. While returning back I saw Naryan and his son Teertha chasing a car. Being a reporter I thought of following them. They didn't notice me, they halted their car in front of some huge home. I stopped my car near by , I had to hop their compound ,as I entered the house I saw a name board , it was a home of Aarathi an IPS officer. I felt myself ashamed because I followed an sincere politican who visited an sincere officer so I thought of leaving and stepped back. But soon I could hear a woman screaming. So obviously I had to take a look and I could see Teertha holding the hair bun of Aarathi's mother, she was screaming to let go of her daughter. Without a moment I started recording , Facebook live in our news portal, her mother was beaten and Narayan started abusing a women police officer , by this time my hands were shivering. He was warning her to give back the documents. Teertha took his revolver and pointed towards the old lady. And Narayan started kicking the pregnant officer , I could see her bump. By this time Guffy was awake and somehow reached me . He started to squeal. Narayan and his son consciousness was diverted and I had to leave the place. Once I reached my home. I got a call from my editor saying that I've done a good job. You have been promoted. And he also said he wouldn't let my name out so that I'll be out of danger and he said me to take a week off.
I visited Shirya and asked her to take care of Guffy for two days so that I visit my parents grave.
When I returned to Shriya , I couldn't find Guffy, she said he was too arrogant, the first couple of hours he was kind and playful but later he started scratching my body and hauling. By hearing I was astonished by Guffy's behaviour.
She said she left him in dog's care. I went back and picked him up. His behaviour was too calm and clean. So we both returned to home. We were happy and my leave got extended as the heat of Naryan became intense. After some days I called Shirya to meet me up . And she did but she was scared of Guffy, I said Guffy is asleep get in. She seems to be very upset and I asked her why? She said me that how could some witch from your agency could record a video of Naryan , he is gem of a persona without knowing the reason how that person could record Narayan. I said her to stop , I screamed at her. I said Shirya calm, he was fake and the mask is out. How can they abuse a old lady and a pregnant woman.
She was relaxed and I said her you will make up a meet with your boyfriend and me, she said relationship is done. I didn't ask her much so I understood she was in heat of her breakup.
While she was climbing her vehicle Guffy from balcony started hauling at her. She said me that Guffy attacked her boyfriend and inturn he had to hit Guffy so he hates me. I'm sorry for that. I said it is fine.
It was a month and Narayan was put behind bars and Teertha was on bail . Investigation was so secured, I knew I would be a trap but with all soul I stood to fight. One day I got a bouquet from Aarthi saying that you saved me , I'll save you. Thank you . I didn't understand at moment later when I visited my office, I could hear that Aarathi's cctv cameras weren't working while Narayan attacked her. Else the person who captured this clip would have been identified.
I was relieved.
And after three months, the judgement was against Narayan and he was taken as captive for lifetime . On Shirya's birthday I made a surprise and she was not happy as she was still in thoughts of her boyfriend. So l decided to grab her attention, while discussing the investigation stories, I slipped about Narayan's recording. She was stunned and she said you have done a great job. And I had to return home. Guffy was angry on my return because I made him starve from his evening snack so I decided to cook chicken for him. I fed him and went to sleep. I heard a someone knocking my door. It's a bang actually. I could see two people from my cctv and they looked like I'm familiar with face . And Guffy started howling from balcony. It was too loud and one of the neighbour shouted at Guffy . But Guffy didn't stop, I was red and wet. A couple of neighbour turned outside and this made them to run away.
I was in a confusion , what could be this who had leaked it ? Next day I got a call from Shriya, saying that she will treat me for her birthday and she also said me to dress well as this will be the last day to enjoy. I giggled sure Shriya. I said Guffy that we will be going to Shriya's home. Guffy started barking . I said don't worry Guffy, her boyfriend won't be there and you can't bite him again. We turned to Shriya's place and she cooked variety of dishes. She had prepared one of my favourite mocktail. I was overwhelmed. Guffy jumped on to the dishes and spoiled it. This Guffy's behaviour made me to apologise Shriya. And I was about leave her place and myself asked her cup of coffee. She brought me a coffee and I asked her some more sugar cubes, she brought me and while sipping she started speaking about Narayan's captive, I said he deserves for his deeds. She said yes, you are orphan because for your deeds and you will lose me because of same deeds. I wondered how? She said me that you can't escape from them, I said Shriya not to worry I'll be safe. She said no because I made you drink posioned coffee and there he enters ,Teertha. She said me not to be shocked because he is my boyfriend. One last time you can be alive if you record a video that you did record the video because you were paid by Aarathi. I said no, she said I've pills to save. Please say those lines and save your life . Teertha isn't bad so I taught of helping you both save both lives. There's something misunderstanding had happened. I said her to shut up. Guffy jumped over me. I knew all these crap, Guffy started giving me clue on the very first day, he was hating you alone and when attackers attacked me, I could feel that it was Teertha as his hand had dog bitten mark . And Guffy never barks at stranger. Even today I could see Teertha's car parked in your backyard. Guffy saved me from your poisoned food. Teertha raised his voice and made me shut, he said who is safe? You will be died in couple of minutes if you record a video , you have a chance to live. If you don't agree you will sign a letter . And that sign will be done by me after your death. Shriya pleaded me and asked Teertha to have a mercy. As soon as she fell on the ground she had puke a blood and yes I had exchanged my coffee with her while she went to bring sugar cubes. Looking at that stains she realised she had drunk the the poison and she asked Teertha to feed her with anti posioned pills. But he was mouth shut as it was fake and he was least bother to save her . He took his revolver by that time and Guffy jumped on him , attacked him. Since I had analysed this situation I had seeked the help of Aarathi and she was with her force to save me. She took him away and I took Shriya on my lap, I said let's move to hospital but she refused by saying I deserve this. And she was dead and I was been awarded by government as well as my office. And Guffy is under the police dog training.
And thus we walk every day. He became the reason for my life to live.
